Lesotho

The Drakensberg

Local Besotho boys at the pub

The old boys at the local pub . Notice the more traditional bushman with his big hat and blanket .( I wonder who is watching his cattle )

Lesotho is the highest country in the world . Separated from South Africa by the Drakensberg mountains, known in Zulu as Ukhuhlamba , which means the barrier of spears .
This is one of the poorest country's in the world . There are no tarred roads and they use horses to travel around .
The bushmen(Nguni tribes men ) travel great distances , with their cattle , looking for grazing , and sleep out in the open , eating lizards and mice for nourishment .
Time has stood still here .
Stop and listen , you hear no cars , planes , trains , just the odd whistel from the Bushmen hearding their cattle .

Lesotho is the country , Besotho are the citizens , and Sesotho is the language .They are decendents from the Nguni tribes , who took refuge in these mountains from the Zulu's , Boer and British .
